Lissabon zählt zu den schönsten Städten Europas und ist seit mehr als 700 Jahren Sitz der Regierung von Portugal. Lissabon liegt an der Mündung des Tejo, eine erstes Bild der Stadt erlangt man mit der Anreise per Schiff durch den gewaltigen Tejo. Vorbei am Torre de Belem beginnt das sagenhafte Panorama der Stadt. Das strahlende, helle Licht des Atlantiks verleiht Lissabon einen glanzvolles Ambiente. Die riesige Christo Rei Statue jenseits des Tejo beschützt die Stadt. Lissabons Altstadt ist voller historischer Bauten und Plätze und erinnert an vergangene Zeiten. Schnell trifft man hier auf die melancholische Lebensweise der Portugiesen, genannt saudade. Sie umschreibt die Seele und Lebensart der Portugiesen und drückt sich im Gesang, dem Fado, aus. Lissabon ist zudem wichtige Hafen- und Wirtschaftsstadt. Besonders die Außenbezirke und Vorstädte zeugen vom Flair einer Millionenstadt. Die Kanarischen Inseln sind eine Inselgruppe, die aus sieben Haupt- und sechs Nebeninseln besteht. Alle sind durch vulkanische Aktivitäten entstanden: Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Teneriffa, La Gomera, La Palma und El Hierro. Sie liegen im Atlantik vor der westafrikanischen Küste zwischen dem 27° und 28° nördlicher Breite. Der ruhende Vulkan Pico de Teide auf Teneriffa ist der höchste Berg Spaniens. El Hierro - Beschaulichkeit und Ruhe El Hierro ist mit etwa 275 qkm Fläche die kleinste Insel der Kanaren. Seit dem Jahre 2000 steht El Hierro unter UNESCO-Schutz. Bis heute ist die Insel noch vom Massentourismus unberührt, da El Hierro nicht direkt angeflogen wird und schöne Strände kaum auszumachen sind. Vielmehr ist sie für den Individualurlauber mit ihrer vielfältigen Landschaft ein sehr interessantes Reiseziel und fasziniert mit grünen Hochebenen, imposanten Küsten, netten Dörfern und Buchten.
